BAKGATLA OFFICES GO GREEN!
''The First Tribe in the world to convert to 100% Green Energy''
Green Plug Energy has recently formed a partnership with the Bakgatla Energy Corporation, to provide power to the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela Tribal Community, which consists of 32 villages with a pollution of about 350 000 people.​ As part of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela's new green energy mandate, the Bakgatla Energy Corporation has already started converting all Bakgatla offices and buildings to 100% green energy in partnership with Green Plug Energy.
Over the next 6 months Green Plug Energy will be rolling out a new energy program in partnership with the Bakgatla Energy Corporation, that will install and power all street lights, building, and businesses operating on Bakgatla Land throughout the 32 Bakgatla Ba Kgafela villages. Lights will be equipped with cameras and WiFi routers that help further the level of security and introduce new opportunities for access to internet in the area.
This partnership is a land mark in the future of the Bakgatla and forms part of a long term relationship aligned with the development of the Bakgatla master plan for Moruleng city.
